Boxing Is On Pay-Per-View!!

So...though I'm new to "Blogspot", I'm certainly not new to blogging, as I had a Xanga for years, and have blogged plenty on "Livejournal" and "Myspace"...having said that, my ramblings are more for me so I can vent in a healthy and constructive way, since I'm a part-time writer. I certainly don't mind people if they subscribe to this blog, but if no one does, that's just great, because these ramblings are for me for the most part. I digress....

....boxing. I love boxing. I can't tell you how many boxing matches I've seen in my lifetime. So many. I've probably seen every boxing match that's been on HBO or pay-per-view or Showtime for that matter for the last 20 yrs, yes, THAT long. So what's my beef? Well here it is.

The Super Bowl. The World Series. The NBA Finals. Even the Stanley Cup. World Cup. Olympics. ALL of that is absolutely free. But to watch over the hill Roy Jones against unheralded Joe Calzaghe, I gotta pay $50? Are you kidding me? Can I afford it? Yes. Does that make it any better? NO. So the biggest sporting events on Earth are free, and for some reason, boxing is still pay-per-view (for the most part).....sad. Old man Roy Jones Jr. was fighting unheralded Joe Calzaghe tonight and it was on pay-per-view. I find it funny. Two guys that don't mean much to the boxing World anymore, but you still gotta shell out $$$$ for it on pay-per-view. Makes me laugh/cringe ;) I did not pay for it tonight, though I will see it for FREE next week on HBO. Good for me, bad for professional boxing. Super Bowl = for free. Jones/Calzaghe = $ 50 even though it could end after one round. Nice.

I love boxing! Glad to hear you do too but I'm pretty sure I already knew that. Indeed it is a shame that we have to ppv for even the most mediocre of matches though.
